Challenge answer

Today I am posting a card that I made in answer to a challenge that stampin-Mami's Creations posted on her blog... You can see her blog here!

Her challenge is based from a drink that she makes... which I can't wait to try! It had oranges, limes, evaporated milk, vanilla and sugar so she challenged us to make a card using the colors of the ingredents from the drink... Orange, Lime, Brown and white... so here is what came up with for her! What a fun challenge... Thanks Maria
I used the Cosmo bella because I had "drinks" on my mind from the challenge. I wanted to "lift" the drink up off the page so I popped it up with dementionals, The colors I used are all Stampin' Up colors... Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Chocolae Chip, and Whisper white. Hope you like!

Dad's Birthday

OH MY GOSH!!! I am so proud of myself right now it is insain!!! Let me give you a little 411 for this card before I show it to you... Okay so my dad turns 58 tomorrow~ He and his wife and my step-brother all do this thing with KOI fish... they have this HUGE store that is all about these fish... and they have this "Lake" (well I would concider it a lake... even though it is really a pond) on their property... My dad is always taking the kids out to see the fish, they have named some of these fish after all the grandkids and stuff.. they even have one that will come up and eat out of your hand. (School bus is his name) Anyway... They sell these fish for those who have ponds and stuff.... My dad, who isn't really a "part" of the business seems to always be doing most of the "labor" work.... but that's a different story... so
I made this card for his birthday! Shoot my scanner isn't working for what ever reason... so I have to take a picture of it... and that never shows it quite as good...

Isn't he adorable... I changed the fishafella (from Stamping Bella) to a man holding a net... and a bag full of fish that he is going to sell! ha ha ha I love it. Here are the details: I used Kraft cardstock, Black and Not Quite Navy. The patterned paper is from BasicGrey, There is Magic Mesh. I stamped the little guy two times. I don't know why I did it that way, but I cut out his clothes and adhered them to the other one... weird that I did it that way! Use Tag Punch to make the tags. and HodgePodge Hardware. I used my slit punch to make the scallopped edge. when I stamped the little guy I used wrapping tape to cover up the fishing pole, inked up image, and then removed the tape so that the fishing pole just didn't stamp and I drew in the net with marker, and gel pens.

The bag of fish I cut some fish out of the second stamped image and put them in the middle of a plastic cellobag tied with a piece of fishing line. *I basically tied a piece of fishing line around the top of a little piece of cellobag, and then folded the bottom up around he fish and taped everything so that it looked like a bag. I thought about putting some "gel" in there to make it look like water... but didnt want any leakage!

What fun! The best part... Is I will just sign a Post-it note, and stick it to the inside of the card, He knows so many people that love fish, that this is a great card for him to "ReGive" to someone that has a birthday. (This helps spread the word about my cards.) Just remember to give credit to Stamping Bella for her artwork and my email address for contact incase anyone wants a specialized card.

Embrace Life - my new set

Holy cow... it's been forever since I did anything on here... Or at least published it... why didn't I publish the things that I wrote? Hummm... Weird! Okay so my brain doesn't always function the way it ott to! but here we go!
This is Embrace Life... I love this set soooo much. It is new in the Spring/Summer Catalog.. it is fairly inexpensive ($23.95) and the most wonderful thing is that it matches the Designer Paper Called Ginger Blossom! Which I am also in Paper Love with!!! The color combination used in this paper is WONDERFUL! Rose Red, Groovy Guava, Cameo Coral, Rolling Rock, and Old Olive ... Oh MY GOSH... how could you not LOVE it!?!

So this card is featuring a "faux silk" technique. I Which is such an easy technique... stay tuned and I will show you how to do it... but I have to take pictures first... so I will do that today! and post later! This also uses less paper than it looks... I ALWAYS use a "paper saving" technique... Which you should always do because it makes your paper go so much further. You basically cut out the back of your Matts... and then cover that up with the top layer... and use the piece that you cut out of the matt for a new matt around something smaller.
(Okay I will show you that too.. just be patient with me. N'Kay?!)

So Glad that Christmas is OVAH!

I don't know about any of you out there, but I am sooooo glad that Christmas is over!!! With a Blended family, we have so many different events to go to and have different parties to attend and everyone has different gift giving games and stuff... WHEW!! We just got done doing my last family event this last Sunday!!! Oh my gosh, what a fabulous time we had!!! It was the icing on the cake...
We decided to change things up this year, so we told everyone to "buy yourself a gift, wrap it up and bring it for a Mystery Gift Game" We made it up, and I have to say it was the best game we have had in a long time! Usually the "white elephant" game is a favorite one, everyone brings a gift that is valued at $30.00 or what ever and then you pick and you can steal an opened gift or you can open a new one under the tree... It gets wild!!!
But this Mystery gift was soooo much fun!!!! Everyone brought a gift that they bought for themselves... So there is no price or value limit... you can spend what ever you want on yourself... Wrap it and make it look nice... and bring it to the tree. We lined up all the mystery gifts up and everyone took turns opening up a gift that WAS NOT their own. You open it up and show it off to the rest of the people at the party! Everyone writes on their own piece of paper who they think that gift belongs to. This was the best because my husband who is 6'4" and 260lbs. was said to bring many gifts... Ha ha ha it was quite funny! We continued on with the game and then at the end everyone reveals which gift was theirs... who ever guesses the most gifts wins the "door prize!" It was such a fun party!
Anyway, just thought I would share this fun game with you all! I have more to talk about but I will do that in a bit!
Bye for now!
